History, Archives & Past Results

MCAB, the Masters Championship of Amateur Brewing, was started in Houston Texas in 1998.  The qualifying Events were in ’98 and the first annual MCAB was held February 12 & 13, 1999 in the form of a conference, complete with guest speakers.  After a few years the conference format was dropped, but the Qualifying Events and annual MCAB event continued each year without interruption.

Louis Bonham, a Houston amateur brewer, is universally known as the father of MCAB, and he directed it for some time.  David Houseman took over as director for 2004 and 2005.  Curt Stock took over as director for 2006 through 2008.  John Peed took over as director in 2009.
